League of Legends has one of the longest-running professional scenes in esports, and many Filipino fans follow it alongside Mobile Legends. If you are curious about LoL esports betting, the first step is not picking a team. It is understanding how the game, the leagues and the match formats work, because those details shape every betting market.
According to Riot Games, two teams of five champions face off, and each side tries to destroy the other's base. Players choose from over 170 champions. A team must clear at least one lane to reach the enemy Nexus, and the first team to destroy the opposing Nexus wins the game.
A single game usually has clear turning points: early kills, towers, dragons, Baron Nashor and team fights. You do not need to know every champion, but knowing what these objectives mean will help you read odds and live markets.
Pro LoL is organised around regional leagues that feed into international events. At the 2025 World Championship, Riot listed qualified teams from five regions: four from the LPL (China), four from the LCK (Korea), three from the LEC (Europe), three from the LTA (the Americas) and three from the LCP (the Pacific), for 17 teams in total.
Worlds 2025 was held in China. The Play-In stage took place on October 14, the Swiss stage ran from October 15 to 25, and the Knockout stage ran from October 28 to November 9, with the final in Chengdu on November 9, 2025. Riot's Global Power Rankings page lists T1 as the Worlds 2025 winner.
The format matters for betting. Play-In and Knockout matches were best-of-five (Bo5). The Swiss stage mixed best-of-one (Bo1) and best-of-three (Bo3) matches. A Bo1 is a single game, so upsets happen more easily. A Bo5 gives the stronger team more room to recover from a bad game.
Most sportsbooks offer a similar set of LoL markets. The names can differ slightly, but the ideas are the same:
Live markets update during the match as gold leads, objectives and kills change, so prices can move quickly.
Decimal odds can be turned into an implied probability by dividing 1 by the odds. Odds of 1.50 imply about a 67% chance, and odds of 2.50 imply 40%. The bookmaker adds a margin, so the implied chances for both sides add up to more than 100%. If your own estimate of a team's chances is no higher than the implied figure, there is no reason to place the bet.
None of these habits removes risk. Esports results can surprise even long-time analysts, and form from one split does not always carry into the next.
LoL esports betting should stay a small part of enjoying the game, not the main reason to watch. Betting is only for adults aged 21 and over under PAGCOR rules. Set a fixed budget, never chase losses, and accept that outcomes are uncertain.
