Who has seen “Fight Back to School”? How about “From Beijing With Love”? Or “All’s Well, Ends Well”? If you don’t have a clue about any of these movies, then you don’t know Stephen Chow.
The Hong Kong-based actor and director, known for the slapstick humor that is popular, and renowned, in this former British colony, became an international star after the release, and box-office success, of “Shaolin Soccer”.
Any fan of Hong Kong Cinema, who is playing slots as well, would notice that the layout of PG Soft Shaolin Soccer is far from the hit sports comedy. Perhaps that player didn’t play enough games. Or watched too many Hollywood movies.
Film buffs would recall “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” while watching “Shaolin Soccer”, but don’t tell that to Ben Stiller. Stephen Chow won’t mind at all, as some of his movies are parodies of Hollywood flicks. The box-office success of “Shaolin Soccer” was followed with “Kung Fu Hustle”, where Chow portrayed a petty cook who happened to be a kung fu master in disguise.
If it doesn’t sound like “Masters of the Universe”, then we don’t know what else to call it. “Kung Fu Hustle” was a bigger hit, where Chow received a BAFTA nomination for Best Film not in the English Language category.
“Shaolin Soccer” was supposed to champion the working class while espousing the virtues that should make the less privileged more honorable, but some Chinese film buffs were well aware of Chow’s reputation in the film industry. To put it in another way, there are too many of the likes of Stephen Chow in Hollywood. It doesn’t mean that the talented actor/director would fade into oblivion sooner.
It’s been nearly two decades since Chow’s last screen appearance, but he’s been collaborating with video platforms for years. It should boost the stock of Star Overseas, which is Chow’s film company. Did PG Soft collaborate with Star Overseas? Perhaps the answer should be discussed in another post. The subject is a slot game. Sports slot.
Are you ready to play Shaolin Soccer?
We don’t advise you to play an actual game of Shaolin Soccer without checking the demo version first. And don’t tell us that you’re a huge football fan. Or sports in general. As any seasoned slot player would tell you, playing mobile slot is pure chance. Your knowledge of the sport would be of little use. The symbol might be an exception, but we’ll get to that part a little later.
The PG Soft Shaolin Soccer demo includes features that should make your gaming experience seamless and enjoyable as possible, and the paytable that highlights the symbols to watch out for. (We’ll get to that part a little later.
What about the layout? It reminded us of that sprawling field near the Ipoh railway station, which looks abandoned and forlorn during a humid weekend. It might be us, but it shouldn’t be mistaken for Perak Stadium. But we’re veering off.
There’s so much to tell about a slot game’s backstory, and not everything can be crammed into a mobile screen. And not all gamers would figure it out if all the details are represented by symbols. What about them?
The symbols of Shaolin Soccer are a combo of faces of football players, who look like recurring characters of “Dragon Ball”, and the usual symbols (A, K, Q, J, 10, 9). Watch out for the “SCATTER” symbol, a spitting image of the Ballon d’Or. Or kind of. What about the “WILD” symbol? The answer is pretty obvious.
Kindly check out the demo version one more time for more details. Do take a mental note of the high-paying symbols. You might have assumed that this is a football game, but it’s not. It’s a slot, first and foremost. Go to the paytable.
Don’t be confused, or misled, by the game information, as playing Shaolin Soccer PG Soft isn’t the same as playing that dreaded penalty kick. It would be less nerve-wracking, but the goal is to bring home some prizes.
We won’t tell you if PG Soft included the progressive jackpot feature. It should add some suspense and drama to your gaming experience. If you win less, then you have something to console about.
You should know the paytable well enough at this point. You must decide your bankroll prior to starting the game. You have practiced enough. And you would take advantage of the special features. It doesn’t guarantee a huge win, but you can get something after the end of a game. Or two.
Nothing beats the real thing, but the reality is you’re holding your mobile phone. And there’s nothing else to do. If you want to let off some competitive steam, then think of this PG Soft slot with a twist. But don’t expect a surprise visit by your shaolin master a.k.a. Stephen Chow.
