Hercules is the Roman equivalent of Heracles. He’s the son of Jupiter, so he’s arguably the greatest demigod who ever lived. And the most complicated. Rick Riordan described Hercules as the bitter demigod marooned in a desert isle off Gibraltar.
He deserved to sit along the Olympians, he insisted. Riordan might be thinking of Bellerophon, who suffered a cruel fate after attempting to fly to Olympus. It was the so-called Labors of Hercules that would make this great protector talked about for ages. Take a look:
It remains to be seen if Riordan would write a novel, or series, on the Labors of Hercules, but we believe it would happen. If the former high school teacher was able to write about the trials of Apollo, which forced the god of the sun to eat humble pie, then the adventures of Hercules would be released soon.
